3 Supplements Most Men Waste Money On
Americans spend tens of billions of dollars a year on supplements. Much of it goes toward products that don't do nearly what people think.
Here are three of the biggest offenders.
Multivitamins
If your diet is bad enough that you need a multivitamin to fill the gaps, the pill isn't the real fix. Your diet is. Large studies involving hundreds of thousands of people have found no meaningful reduction in heart disease, cancer, or cognitive decline from general daily multivitamins. They can prevent deficiencies in some cases, but they aren't a substitute for eating real food.
BCAAs
The branched-chain amino acids everyone at the gym swears by. But if you're eating enough protein, you're already getting them. Meat, eggs, dairy, and whey all contain the same amino acids plus everything else your muscles need.
Fat Burners
Most fat burners are just caffeine with a heavy markup. You'll get a similar metabolic boost from a cup of black coffee. No pill replaces a caloric deficit and sleep.
What's actually worth considering: vitamin D, magnesium, creatine, and fish oil.
But the smarter move is simple: get bloodwork first, supplement second.

Irish Whiskey 101

Irish Whiskey 101
by Koko and Jeff Lam host from the “Heavily Buzzed” podcast
Cue: House of Pain “Jump Around”
Erin go Bragh! Welcome back to Heavily Buzzed Pod Class 101, where the only homework assignment is finishing what’s in your glass. Today’s subject: Irish whiskey one of the oldest spirits on the planet and proof that the Irish have been improving bad days for a very long time.
So pour yourself something nice. Or something cheap. This is a judgment-free classroom.
Fun fact: Irish whiskey is widely considered one of the earliest distilled spirits in the world. In other words, Ireland was already perfecting whiskey while Scotland was still figuring out how to spell it.
As I write this, I’m time traveling back to the very first Irish whiskey I ever had. And no, I know what you’re thinking. It’s not the usual brand that starts with a “J”. Instead, it was a bottle that doesn’t always get the spotlight it deserves: Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey.
Picture this: I had just graduated from college, which means two things: I had a job and I had no money. It was St. Patrick's Day, and a group of my coworkers and I had just finished a shift at The Disney Store. Yes, the irony is strong here. Spend the day selling princess dolls and then spend the night doing Irish whiskey shots. Walt was probably turning in his grave.
We headed to the Mai Tai Bar near the mall. Being the budget-conscious adult that I was pretending to be, I ordered the St. Patrick’s Day happy hour whiskey special and sure enough, it was Bushmills.
Now here’s the embarrassing part: for the longest time, I thought Bushmills was made in Brooklyn. I had it confused with Bushwick.
The Moment of truth. The shots arrived at the table. We all raised our glasses and down the hatch. But honestly.. It was pretty damn good.
Bushmills is triple-distilled and primarily matured in American bourbon barrels, with a small portion aged in Spanish sherry casks. That first sip can bite a little but after that? Think of it less like a punch to the mouth and more like a guided tour of flavor. And if you’re adventurous as every good whiskey drinker should be, try a few different styles. You might be surprised which one becomes your favorite.
This St. Patrick's Day, head to a neighborhood bar. Order the happy hour Irish whiskey special, take a sip, and keep exploring until you find the one you can’t stop drinking. Because that’s the beauty of Irish whiskey, there’s always another great pour waiting to be discovered.
Sláinte! 🥃🍀

Monthly Gamble

Monthly Gamble: March Madness Betting 101
The NCAA Tournament tips off March 17th. 68 teams. Win or go home. Filling out a bracket with friends and coworkers is half the fun. But if you want to go beyond the bracket, here's what the betting landscape looks like.
Moneyline
The simplest bet. Pick the winner. No point spreads, no math. A 12-seed over a 5? That's where the moneyline gets interesting.
Point Spread
The favorite has to win by a set margin. If Duke is -6.5, they need to win by 7 or more for your bet to hit. The underdog just has to keep it close.
Totals (Over/Under)
Forget who wins. You're betting on whether the combined score lands over or under a number set by the book.
Futures
Pick the national champion before the tournament starts. Higher risk, higher reward. This is the long game.
Props
Individual performances and specific outcomes. Total 3-pointers in a game, a player's point total, first team to score. These add texture to games you're already watching.
Parlays
Combine multiple bets into one ticket. Bigger payout, but every leg has to hit. Keep it to four or fewer.
Live Betting
Wager in real time as the game unfolds. Odds shift with every possession, which rewards those paying close attention.
If you’re going to gamble, know the landscape before you play.
